The VelvetSpeak journal

What’s new in VelvetSpeak v0.9.7

Notes from the closed beta

We’re almost finished with Alpha testing. There’s still work to do—suggestions need to be more relevant and natural, and fact-checking needs to be tighter—but the underlying framework seems solid.

Since our last update, we’ve expanded how you prepare for conversations, get help in the moment, and follow through afterward.

What’s changed

  • Personal lenses: More ways to tailor conversation help to your purpose, tone, and preferences, with a personal lens picker.
  • Better preparation: Bring questions, talking points, and useful context into your Plans, with prepared questions and lines accessible on your glasses.
  • Follow-up tracking: Keep track of next steps after a conversation, including what’s done and what’s waiting on someone else.
  • Clearer glasses controls: More explicit Start and Stop listening controls, clearer session states, and improvements to menu navigation and exiting the app.
  • A steadier reading experience: Clearer signals when help is being generated and better protection against content changing while you’re reading.
  • Conversation and usability refinements: Updates to lens guidance, Dating suggestions, Lines, first-time setup, and conversation history—including selecting multiple conversations for deletion.

Our focus now is refinement: getting the suggestions closer to what you would actually say, making fact-checking more dependable, and smoothing out the remaining rough edges.

Thanks to everyone testing VelvetSpeak and sharing feedback. If a suggestion misses the point or a fact-check gets something wrong, tell us what happened and what would have helped. Those examples are especially useful as we finish Alpha testing.
